U.S. Air Force Academy

Ienvenue to the United States Air Force Academy Board of Visitors, established under Title 10, USC, Section 9355.

DOCUMENTS OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Visitors to the United States Air Force Academy is established under Title 10, United States Code, Section 9355.

MISSION

The Council shall review the morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods and other matters relating to the academy which the Council decides to consider.

The council meets at least four times a year, including at least two of these meetings at the Academy. The board prepares semi-annual reports containing its views and recommendations relating to the Academy. Each written report is submitted simultaneously to the Secretary of Defense, through the secretary of the Air Force, and to the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate and the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives.

STRUCTURE

The council is made annually and is composed of 15 members. The President of the United States appoints six members, of which at least two must be graduates of the US Air Force Academy. The vice-president of the United States or the president pro tempore of the Senate appoints three members (both are members of the Appropriations Committee of the Senate).

The chairman of the House of Representatives shall appoint four members. Three are members of the House of Representatives and the fourth can not be a member of the House.
