The University of Waterloo is one of the leading comprehensive universities, with a strong curriculum and research in six faculties of applied health sciences, arts, engineering, environmental studies, mathematics and science. Four other institutions - St. Jerome's University, Conrad Grebel University College, Renison College, and St. Paul's United College - Federated or are affiliated with the University of Waterloo. Located on the main campus of Waterloo, these institutions participate in the delivery and management of academic programs and offer additional residential spaces for students. Five respected vocational schools are based in the faculties: Accounting and Finance, Architecture, Computer Science, optometry, and planning, with a sixth, the School of Pharmacy, which began admitting students in 2008. A program in software engineering is offered jointly by the faculties of engineering and mathematics. Faculty of Applied Health Sciences With a focus on health promotion, wellness and prevention of illness and injury, of the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences offers programs of study in health and gerontology, kinesiology, recreation and recreation and education. Our 17 units offers nine academic doctoral programs, 17 master's programs, 24 programs and honors, the most important of the arts cooperative education program in the world. Research at the Faculty of Arts focuses on the acquisition of knowledge, mobilization and the impact at the local, regional and global levels. We are also home to school as a leader in Canadian accounting and financial controls and the newly created Balsillie School of International Affairs. Faculty of Engineering Carl Pollock Hall Waterloo programme of undergraduate engineering Canada is the best. We offer undergraduate programs in the major disciplines of engineering and architecture, as well as in new areas such as multi mechatronics and nanotechnology. All 5300 students are enrolled in the cooperative education program, the largest in the world. The Faculty of Engineering is also home to more than 1400 graduate students. RIM, Dalsa, Sirific Wireless, Handshake VR, and Intelligent Mechatronic Systems are some of the companies that were founded by researchers at Waterloo Engineering. Faculty of Environmental Studies Environmental studies II Researchers, students and staff of the Faculty of Environmental Studies are committed to protecting the ecological systems, the understanding of the relationship between human and natural systems, and the promotion of sustainable communities. The faculty offers programs in environment and the economy, the environment and resource studies, geography, geography and aviation, geomatics, global governance, international development, integration of knowledge, local economic development, planning and tourism policy and planning. The members of our institutes and research centres collaborate with academic and industrial partners across the world. Pure and applied research in the UW Faculty of Mathematics has led to breakthroughs in areas ranging from financial services to scheduling and logistics, health sciences of the high-tech industry. Faculty of Science Physics building The cutting edge of discovery, state-of-the-art facilities and researchers who typically attract more than $ 40 million in research funding per year, the Faculty of Science offers opportunities for innovation and experimentation. Our world-class programs include science and business of biotechnology / accounting, physical sciences and life sciences. The facilities include a library and archives, "smart" classrooms, a spacious atrium lounge for students and updates and study spaces. The college hosts a variety of conferences, seminars and concerts where cutting-edge research and musicality is presented and celebrated. Renison College CollegeRenison Renison College offers a variety of programs in the arts, studies of East Asia, and the social sciences as well as a unique post-BA Bachelor of Social Work. A variety of ESL courses are offered through the English Language Institute. In conjunction with several universities in China and Japan, Renison is the place designated for a Confucius Institute. Residence area includes 220 beds, and a new wing houses a university multimedia language lab, East Asian Studies Resource Centre, and a 4300-square-foot library. St. Jerome's University St. Jerome's Roman Catholic university UniversityA federated with the University of Waterloo, St. Jerome's University offers programs in arts, mathematics, legal studies, Italian studies, and medieval studies, and a single programme of BA in sexuality, marriage and family studies. Major research includes studies of love and hate, urban culture, and a project on religion and ethnicity. Faculty members also hold Research Chairs in quantum computing and cryptography. St. Jerome's provides space for 280 students stay home and the St. Jerome's Centre for Catholic Experience. St. Paul's College St. Paul's CollegeSt. Paul's College offers a program of undergraduate degree in International Development, in partnership with the Faculty of Environmental Studies, available to first-year students entering UW in the fall of 2008. The college also teaches courses in the humanities and social sciences and presents annual taught, including Kerr-Saltsman conference on international affairs. St. Paul's hosts UW's Environmental Studies-Community Living and Learning offers 194 seats in dormitory residence, the apartments at more than 100 graduate students, and eight hotel-style rooms for visiting college campuses and guests. The university Aboriginal Services Office is based in St. Paul.

Bill Gates addresses UW and local high school students.

Bill Gates is back. The founder and current president of Microsoft today is his second visit to the University of Waterloo - one of the five campuses on his current tour and the only one in Canada.

UW Gates was welcomed by senior administrators have joined a group of academics for a roundtable and talked to the media. But the main event was a speech to a group largely comprised of students. Nearly 200 students, many of whom are participating in competitions in mathematics UW managed by the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing, joined 475 students from across the UW campus, and a few dozen invited to talk about his theater the humanities.

OXFORD UNIVERSITY: The Structure of the University

Oxford is an independent and autonomous institution, which is composed of central University and colleges.

The Vice-Chancellor, which carries a term of up to seven years, is the principal agent of the University. Five pro-vice-chancellors are specific functional responsibility for development and external affairs, education, personnel and equal opportunity; planning and resources, and Research. The chancellor, who is usually an eminent person elected to public life, serves as the titular head of the University, chaired by all major ceremonies.

The main body is the University Council, which has 26 members, including those who were elected by the congregation, representatives of colleges and four members from outside the university. Council is responsible for academic policy and strategic direction of the University, and operates through four main committees: Educational Policy and Standards; general-purpose, personnel, and planning and resource allocation.

The ultimate responsibility for matters of legislation back to the congregation, which has more than 4000 members of the academic, senior research, library, museum and administrative staff.

Day by day decision-making in areas such as finance and planning vests at the University of four academic divisions - humanities, mathematics and physical sciences, medical sciences and the social sciences. Each division has a full-time division and division leader elected board. Lifelong learning is the responsibility of a separate executive board.

The thirty-nine colleges, though independent and autonomous, is a central element of the university, to which they are linked in a federal system, a bit like the United States. Over time, each college is granted a charter approved by the Privy Council, under which it is headed by a Chief of the Assembly and a Board of Trustees composed of a number of scholars, most of whom held also posts University. There are also seven permanent private halls, which were founded by different Christian denominations, and which retain their religious character. Thirty colleges and seven rooms to admit for both students graduate degrees. Seven other colleges are only for graduates, one, All Souls, only fellows, and another, Kellogg College, lifelong learning supports the work of the University for adults, part-time and Development Vocational students.

Students who flocked to Cambridge soon organized their curriculum after the pattern that has become common in Italy and France, and they would have known at Oxford. They studied first what would now be called "basic training" in the arts - grammar, logic and rhetoric - followed later by arithmetic, music, geometry and astronomy, which leads of varying degrees of bachelor and master. There were no teachers was conducted by teachers who themselves have gone through the courts and that has been approved or authorized by the whole of their colleagues (the universitas or university ). Education took the form of reading and explanation of the texts, examinations were oral debates in which the candidates put forward a series of questions or theories that they supported or contested with opponents a little above them own, and finally, with teachers who had taught them. Some of the teachers, but not all, has pursued advanced studies in divinity, the canon and civil law, and, more rarely, medicine, which were taught and examined in the same way by those who have already crossed the threshold and become doctors. The doctors themselves grouped into faculties.

It soon became necessary to prevent abuse of royal privileges conferred on scholars, to identify and authenticate the degree to which people had been granted. Subscribe to a licensed captain was the first step in this direction, he was called baccalaureate because of the condition that the name of the scientist should be placed on the mastery matricula or roll, but later, the University itself assumed this service. The first of these were the two Proctors (literally representatives) who are elected annually to negotiate on their behalf with the city and lay the other authorities, to keep the accounts to safeguard their treasures and books, reviews moderate, and overseeing all other ceremonies. Those rights were soon to be shared by other elected officers: Bedells, initially attached to the Faculty, presided over the ceremonies, and a chaplain was charged with treasures and books. By the sixteenth century, a Registrary inscriptions recorded entries degrees, and the decisions of the regent masters, while a ceremonial Orator wrote letters and addresses. Most of these offices remain today, although in some cases, for the purposes of ceremonies.

A community of such complexity of the rules. To this end, as problems arise, the statutes have been adopted by the entire body of the University. It was not at first arranged or codified, but were found at random in books kept by the Proctors. The oldest known version of these decisions is a copy made in the mid-thirteenth century, which is now in the Biblioteca Angelica in Rome.

The Regent University Third Annual Symposium Reagan, on Friday, February 1, participated in a presidential election straw, with the following results.

Those who identified themselves as Republicans supported Huckabee with 39 percent of votes; Romney received 33.5 percent, McCain 14 percent, 6.7 percent and Paul.

Democratic, voters overwhelmingly chose Obama, who received 83.3 percent of votes; Clinton received 8.3 percent.

Participants who identified themselves as independents chosen Huckabee with 32.1 percent; McCain at 28.6 percent; Obama 25 percent; Romney 7.1 percent; Clinton 3.6 percent, 3.6 percent and other.
